Troubleshooting Shade Canopy Problems

The Shade Instant Canopy is a temporary shelter used to cover sunny areas on back porches or patios. These canopies are also used at sporting events to shield players from the elements if it starts raining. If you are having problems with your Instant Shade Canopy, you can do a few things to get it working properly. You don't' have to take your canopy back to the store to have it fixed.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the ground that the canopy is installed on to make sure it is level. If the canopy is not installed on a level surface, water will collect on the loose fabric. This can also lead to tears and rips by stretching the fabric from the uneven sides.

    • 2

Lift the outer legs of the canopy to make sure they are in the fully upright position. If the legs are not completely upright, the canopy will be uneven. Raise the legs to the upright position so they are even.

    • 3

Look over the canopy fabric to make sure there are no tears or rips. If there are any, repair them with a patching kit. These can be found at fabric stores.

    • 4

Use a hammer to hammer the leg stakes into the ground. The stakes must be secure to keep the canopy in place. If the stakes aren't secure, the canopy could fall over.

    • 5

Check over the hook-and-loop straps on the sides of the fabric to make sure that they are catching the side of the stands. If the Velcro straps do not lock into place, the fabric may slide off the canopy.

    • 6

Add a lubricant to the legs if they are not sliding upward smoothly. Lubricants such as WD-40 will work well in helping the legs slide up and down.
