Clean your concrete floor. Remove all old paint. Scrape flakes of paint from the surface. Absorb oil or grease with kitty litter and scrub off the stains. Patch cracks and chips with a commercial patch kit. Thoroughly vacuum all dirt and dust from your floor. The concrete needs to be completely clean to accept the paint well.
Prime the concrete. Purchase a primer that is compatible with concrete and the sealer you are going to use for the final coat. Consult with a professional before you purchase these items. Use a brush to apply primer around the baseboard. Paint the large areas of the floor with a smooth roller. Start at the far end of the room and paint toward the door. Allow your primer to dry at least 24 hours.
Choose a paint that is concrete-compatible. Apply the first layer of paint with a smooth roller; cut into the small areas and around the baseboard with a good quality brush. The paint will darken as it dries. Allow the paint to dry at least 24 hours before applying a second coat. Allow it to dry another 24 hours.
Apply your sealer according to directions. Wear goggles and a face guard to protect yourself from the noxious fumes. Allow your sealer to dry for two days before walking on the surface.
