Take all decor and furniture items out of the room. Hang thin painter's plastic sheets on the walls. Use painter's tape and not masking tape to hang sheets, so paint does not drip onto walls. Cover the carpet or other flooring with drop cloths or heavy plastic tarps. Apply painter's tape firmly to the wall connected to the ceiling. Brush the tape down well with your finger.
Attach the roller cover to the roller frame. Screw the roller frame into an extension pole. Pour orange-peel-texture latex paint into a roller pan. Use a rough nap roller created for painting plaster surfaces and wet the roller with paint.
Roll the paint onto the ceiling in smooth, even-pressured strokes. Do not push hard against the roller in an attempt to add more paint to the wall. Expect to apply two or more layers of paint. Wait about four hours between adding each layer of paint.
Cut in the edges of the ceiling. Use an angled brush and dip the tip of the brush into paint. Brush on the paint using the angle only - dab the paint onto any of the orange peel areas difficult to cover. Understand this process is time-consuming, especially with the orange peel texture. Attempt to roll the paint as close to the edge of the ceiling as possible to decrease the time spent painting the edge of the ceiling.
Look closely at every bit of the surface from different angles. Dab paint onto any areas the paint roller does not cover with an old paintbrush or sponge. Allow to dry.
