Blue Pearl Granite Flooring Ideas

Blue pearl granite characteristically contains opalescent flecks of shimmering blue, silver, lavender, white and sometimes even pale green. Its variegated nature makes it ideal for flooring projects, as it tends not to show everyday dust and debris as prominently as black and white versions of granite do. Granite is a luxury material and priced as such, but there are many ways to integrate blue pearl into your flooring designs.
  1. Slabs and Tiles

    • Whether you choose to use floor tiles or slabs depends largely on the space and your own personal tastes. Foyers and hallways, grandiose rooms with a larger scale, look best with slab-style layouts, while smaller areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces will do well with tile. Whether you choose to put granite throughout your home or reserve it for one special room, options are available. The blue pearl can also be repeated in small doses throughout your home. For instance, complement a blue pearl floor in the kitchen with a bathroom countertop on the second floor.

    Patterns

    • Consider the existing decor of your home to help you choose an appropriate pattern for laying out the tiles. Popular designs include a checkerboard pattern using blue pearl with another type of stone or color of granite, subway style with rectangular tiles, parquet designs and medallions. Some granite companies allow you to customize medallion patterns to incorporate the color of granite you have chosen for your overall design. Or, choose something to contrast with the blue pearl for a focal point you can place in the foyer.

    Borders and Accents

    • Integrate blue pearl into your flooring design with borders and accents. Not only will you keep costs down, the small pops of blue also will act as a focal point throughout the space. Combine blue pearl with other types of stone such as sandstone, travertine, slate and any others that catch your eye. Work with a contractor to develop granite tiles in a shape you are happy with or work with existing shapes. Install a blue pearl border around the perimeter of a room with a star burst medallion or a compass medallion in the center for balance.

    Other Ideas

    • Splurge on a bathroom remodel with blue pearl flooring. Pair it with a slate surround for the bath tub and a blue pearl countertop. Blue pearl also contains darker flecks that pair well with black galaxy granite. Combine the two types of granite for a checkerboard pattern. Or, use one type of granite for the border and one type for the main part of the floor. Alternate this pattern from room to room to create flow through the home while unifying the overall design.
