Different Flooring for Bedrooms

Your bedroom is a sanctuary. It's the place you retreat to recharge and relax. Ideally, it reflects your personal taste from top to bottom, so choose your flooring as carefully as you do your bed. Check out flooring types and you will find options to fit every budget and decorating style. It is all right to be creative in this design element.
  1. Carpet

    • Carpet is the most popular flooring choice in the bedroom -- in part because it is warm and soft underfoot, but it has other advantages as well. Carpet is available in a wide range of prices and it helps to soundproof your room. It is easy to maintain with regular vacuuming and professional cleaning at least once a year. Carpet comes in many styles from textured Berber to luxurious plush. It is available in patterns and colors to fit any decorating style. But if you suffer from allergies, consider the fact that carpet harbors dust mites and dust that can set off an allergy attack

    Wood

    • When you think of wood flooring, chances are you think of hardwoods like oak, cherry and walnut. Hardwood floors add beauty to your room and worth to your home. They are durable and come in a variety of finishes.

Bamboo floors are gaining in popularity because they are manufactured from a sustainable material and are less expensive than hardwood flooring. Bamboo floors are durable and can be stained a variety of colors. Pine plank flooring is another type of wood flooring. Pine floors are softer than other woods and will more easily scratch and dent. Their weathered appearance makes them popular for country and farmhouse style rooms. Pine floors can also be painted, a look that is often found in cottage décor. All types of wood floors are easy to keep and don't harbor dust and mites. Toss an area rug over a wood floor for the cozy factor found in carpeting.

    Tile

    • Tiles, whether ceramic or natural stone like granite, are durable and easy to clean. Tile comes in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors, patterns and prices, allowing you to design a bedroom floor that is uniquely you as well as budget friendly. However, tile can feel cold underfoot and is noisy. If your budget allows, consider having an under the floor heating system installed to warm the floor as well as the room. Dot the floor with area rugs for warmth, but be sure to use a non-skid pad under them to avoid slipping.

    Laminate

    • Laminate flooring is a man-made product that looks and in many ways acts like hardwood. It is an attractive, less expensive alternative to wood flooring. Laminate floors don't scratch or dent easily. They are easy to care for and install. One drawback of laminate flooring is that it can't be refinished like wood floors.
