Choose your color of oil-based porch enamel. Choose a product that is meant to handle a large amount of foot traffic. The paint can will specifically state that it is for porches and floors.
Remove everything from your porch before you begin painting.
Apply a water-repellent sealer to the porch using a paint roller. You may need to go back with a brush to get in between the slats of wood on the porch. Cover the ends of the boards and any other exposed area.
Wait overnight for the sealer to dry before you apply a coat of primer. Use a roller to paint over the entire porch with an oil-based, mildew-resistant primer. Apply the primer in the same way that you painted the sealer. Allow the primer to dry overnight before applying the paint.
Paint the deck with the porch paint that you have chosen. Use a paint roller to apply the paint to all the ends of the wood. Use a brush to get along edges and between boards. Wait two to three hours for the first coat to dry and apply an additional coat.
Wait 24 hours before you return all your furniture to the porch.
