Drape a tarp or sheets over all of your furniture and floors to prevent paint splatter.
Tape off the walls and light fixtures. Use a tall ladder to reach the ceiling. Have someone hold the ladder for stability.
Pour the paint into a paint tray. Choose paint that is a darker shade than your walls. This will draw the ceiling down so that it does not appear as high.
Paint the ceiling using a telescoping cleaning pole with a paint roller attached. Work in small sections at a time to ensure that all areas are covered. Wait approximately two hours for the paint to dry and apply a second coat.
Wait 24 hours for the paint to dry and remove the tape.
Hang two or three large pictures approximately halfway up the walls. Use a ladder and a tape measure to measure from the floor. Measure the width of the picture and make two marks on the wall that are as wide as the print.
Install adhesive hooks to the wall. Peel the backing off the the hooks and press firmly onto the marks that you made. The jumbo hooks will hold up to 8 pounds. Wait five minutes before you hang the picture on the wall.
Lift the picture up to the hooks and hang them on the wall. Have someone hand the pictures to you so you will not have to carry them up the ladder.
Place the pictures on opposite walls so you add decor without making the walls too busy.
