How to Stop My Carport Floor From Sweating

If your home has a carport, you may have noticed moisture forming on the floor during certain times of the year. This "sweating" occurs when moist, humid, warm air passes over a cold concrete or cement floor. Though this problem is not extremely dangerous at home, it can be annoying, and if it bothers you, you can do a few things to try and prevent or limit the amount of moisture in the carport.

  Clean the surface of the carport thoroughly. Sweep out all debris on the floor. Use a degreaser and brush to remove any oil or anti-freeze stains from the floor. Debris and stains can help retain moisture on the floor and will add to the sweating problem.

  Install a ceiling fan or two in the ceiling of the carport. The ceiling fans will help distribute the warm air more evenly and will prevent the air from further warming and stagnating over the concrete floor.

  Place a dehumidifier or two inside the carport. The dehumidifiers will help remove some of the moisture from the air and will help alleviate moisture condensing on the carport floor. The dehumidifiers will work even better in conjunction with the ceiling fans due to better air circulation.
