How to Install NobleSeals

The installation of new tile can dramatically improve the appearance of any bathroom. Because bathroom tiles are exposed to large amounts of water, special care must be taken during installation to ensure that the tiles or substrate material will not be damaged. NobleSeal is a thin waterproof membrane designed to be installed directly to the surface where the tiles will be laid. The NobleSeal membrane is designed to not rot or otherwise deteriorate and can be installed over a variety of substrate materials including concrete and plywood.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the substrate for moisture, and perform any patching or leveling of the substrate material prior to installing the NobleSeal. The substrate must be completely even and dry before applying the Noble sealant bonding material.

    • 2

Use the trowel to apply a uniform layer of the sealant over the substrate that will be covered with the membrane. It may be necessary to vary the angle at which the trowel is held to create a layer of sealant that will bond correctly with the membrane.

    • 3

Apply the membrane to the substrate with the sealant before the sealant begins to form a "skin." After unrolling the membrane, flatten it from the center of the membrane to the edge with the hand roller. If a large amount of the membrane is applied, use the large linoleum roller.

    • 4

Ensure that the membrane is completely attached to the sealant by going over the membrane with the rollers repeatedly. Trim any excess membrane with the scissors or utility knife.
