Measure the height of the room from the floor to the top of the ceiling. Take a measurement that spans across the room as well.
Obtain a bolt of drapery fabric in your choice of color and style.
Measure the bolt of drapery fabric to determine how many panels you’ll need to span the room.
Cut the panels of drapery fabric to a floor-to-ceiling height plus 2 inches. Fold 1 inch of fabric over on the top and bottom of each panel and hem with a sewing machine for a finished look.
Install two eye hooks at the point where the ceiling meets the walls. Place them on opposite walls directly across from one another. Use a drill to create a starter hole for easier installation.
Cut a piece of high-tension aircraft cable to the width between the two eye hooks plus 12 inches.
Insert one end of the cable into one of the eye hooks. Fold 6 inches of the cable over so that it touches the long span of cable. Place wire rope clips along the folded cable to secure it.
Stretch the cable across the room to the other eye hook. Hold it up against the hook and measure out 6 more inches. Cut the cable at this point.
Expand a turnbuckle and place it on the second hook. Insert the cable into the turnbuckle. Adjust it for tautness and use wire rope clips to secure it. Close the turnbuckle.
Fasten a row of curtain clips to the aircraft cable. Secure your hemmed pieces of drapery fabric to the clips and spread them out so they reach across the room.
