Lay the Moroccan fabric of choice across the floor in the same area that you wish for it to be on the ceiling. You can use as little or as much fabric as you choose, but long rectangular strips and large squares drape well and are authentic to Moroccan style. If the fabric is only decorated or vibrant on one side, lay that side face down. If the piece of fabric is rectangular, try centering it diagonally or using more than one to border the room's edges. If the fabric is square, center it in the room.
Place a step ladder near one corner of the fabric. Pick up the fabric and hold the corner against the ceiling directly above the spot where you originally placed it.
Secure the corner of the fabric to the ceiling with a thumb tack. If you are having a hard time pushing it in, tap it with a rubber mallet.
Attach the remaining three corners to the ceiling. Make sure that you allow enough slack in the fabric for the excess to drape down in a U shape.
Place a thumb tack in the direct center of the fabric so that the fabric surrounding it billows out more dramatically between the other tacks.
