How to Nail in Cement Nails for Carpet

Covering cold, hard cement with carpet is an option that offers insulation and comfort. Carpet stripping designed for use with concrete, or cement, helps ensure the strips remain in place. Specially designed masonry nails hold the strips securely. Nailing them into cement requires a heavy-duty hammer, available from your local hardware store.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the carpet stripping close to the wall as directed by the manufacturer. Make sure the stripping is specifically designed for cement or concrete floors. The carpet stretches between the pieces of stripping.

    • 2

Place a masonry nail in the pre-drilled hole on the stripping. Make sure the nail is long enough to drive 1 and 1/4 inch into the cement.

    • 3

Hit the nail forcefully, directly on the head with either a small sledge hammer or a hand drilling hammer. These hammers handle heavy-duty jobs, including nailing masonry nails.
