Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the carpet when it is dry to reduce the amount of dust. Take out wastepaper baskets, tables, bathmats or anything that is on the floor.

    • 2

Press a pry bar in between the wall and the carpet at the corner of the room. If the carpet was installed using tackless strips, pry the tackless strips off the floor.

    • 3

Pull on the carpeting until it releases. Roll the carpet up as it releases from the wall. You can also cut the carpet into manageable pieces with a utility knife for easier removal.

    • 4

Cut through the carpet padding with a utility knife carefully to avoid harming the flooring underneath.

    • 5

Remove any staples securing the carpet padding to the floor, using needle-nose pliers. Roll up the carpet padding and remove it from the room. Sweep the flooring underneath.
