Instructions

    • 1

Cover the floor with a drop cloth. Apply painter’s tape around the wall to cover adjacent edges.

    • 2

Load the trim paintbrush with the latex primer and apply primer around the perimeter of the wall to cut in the primer. Pour primer into the paint tray and load the 3/8-inch paint roller. Apply the primer to the remaining wall with the paint roller in a thin and even layer. Allow the primer to dry for the time recommended on the primer label.

    • 3

Apply the latex flat paint to the wall using the same application technique you used for the primer. Allow the paint layer to dry for the time recommended by the manufacturer.

    • 4

Pour the Venetian plaster into the paint tray. Moisten the 3/4-inch paint roller and load it lightly with the plaster. Apply the plaster to the wall in a 5-foot area, working the roller back and forth over the wall in a variety of directions. Set the roller aside after you apply the plaster to the working area.

    • 5

Apply the trowel to the wall surface and drag it lightly across the surface to create a random and varied surface with the plaster. Continue working the area until it looks the way you desire.

    • 6

Continue adding plaster to the wall in small sections and creating the texture you desire with the trowel. Blend the sections together with the trowel to make the entire wall seamless and uniform.

    • 7

Allow the wall to dry for about four to six hours and apply a second coat of plaster using the same application technique. Strive for sweeping strokes with the trowel to create attractive texture. Allow the second coat of plaster to dry for four to six hours again.

Sand the dried plaster with 600-grit sandpaper, working in circular motions to blend the colors and make the wall smooth. Because of the fine grit of the sandpaper, the wall should become very smooth and polished. Wipe sanding dust from the wall with the tack cloth.
