How to Use Sheetrock Dust Control for an Orange Peel Texture

Spread a drop cloth across the floor. Apply painter's tape across the trim and baseboards to protect them against paint splatters.

Apply Sheetrock Brand Dust Control Joint Compound directly onto the walls with a trowel. Apply a layer that is no more than 1/2-inch thick or just enough that it can be sanded easily. Once you have applied a thin layer, add more compound with the trowel in a swirling motion that will add texture to the wall's surface.

Use the tip of a putty knife to make holes in the compound to further mimic the bumpy texture of an orange peel.

Allow the compound to dry overnight.

Put on a pair of goggles then sand down the dried compound with 150-grit sandpaper. The walls do not have to be completely smooth since you are going for a slightly bumpy texture. The sandpaper will help smooth out trouble spots while still revealing the bumpy texture.

Open a can of primer and mix it well. Pour the primer into a paint tray then coat a paint roller with it. Apply one coat of primer to the walls then wait for it to dry before applying a coat of wall paint.
