Stair moulding is decorative wood placed along the stair stringer. The trim accents or hides the edge of the stairs. Stair moulding often feature simple designs, especially compared to the intricate designs implemented in crown moulding. A round-over bit, a router and a 1x1 are all that is needed to create stair moulding. The same process can be used for more intricate moulding patterns by exchanging the size of wood used and the router bit.
