How to Make Frosted Glass

Ordinary glass can be revamped into frosted glass by applying a permanent spray that creates an opaque finish. Though frosting glass is often intended to create decorative effects throughout the house, the dull glass panes can also offer more privacy, such as when used on a medicine cabinet. Unused jars, plain vases and discount store glasses can be instantly transformed into expensive-looking kitchenware and stylish home accents.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the glass and let dry. Use soap and water for glassware, dishes and vases. Use rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth if you plan to frost a window or glass frame.

    • 2

Draw designs on the paper backing of the adhesive-backed plastic with a marker or pencil. Cut out the designs using a pair of scissors.

    • 3

Peel off the paper backing. Stick the cut-out plastic on the glass surface wherever you desire. Use painter's tape to make stripes or use pre-made stickers.

    • 4

Spray the frosted glass finish evenly over the entire glass surface. Set aside to dry for fifteen minutes.

    • 5

Gently peel the adhesive shapes or tape from the glass. Let dry an additional three hours before using.

    • 6

Wash glass with soap and water to remove any adhesive residue if necessary.
