Instructions

    • 1

Clean wood with a damp cloth. Use a flat-head screwdriver to clean gunk out of crevices and corners and a wire brush to remove heavy grime.

    • 2

Remove all hardware such as knobs, drawer pulls and removable ornaments.

    • 3

Sand the wood with a medium-grit sandpaper. Sanding will help the base coat bond to the wood. Wipe the dust away with a damp cloth.

    • 4

Apply several coats of black latex paint using your preferred method. It doesn't matter if you use the brush method, rollers or even a spray paint. Let the paint dry completely between layers.

    • 5

Rub edges and crevices with sandpaper. Lightly sand areas that might naturally be worn, like edges, around handles and sides.

    • 6

Dip a clean rag into metallic paint and lightly apply around edges, crevices and sanded areas. Let dry for two hours.

    • 7

Apply a coat of clear polyurethane sealer using a brush, roller or spray. Let dry for at least 24 hours.

    • 8

Reattach knobs, pull handles and ornamental items.
