Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the plaster walls with a clean cloth to remove any dust or dirt from the surface, and inspect the plaster for cracks or other damage. Cracks or holes must be patched before you begin painting. Whether you call a professional or patch the plaster yourself, wait until it is completely dry before you continue.

    • 2

Apply one coat of PVA primer to the plaster walls with a paint roller. Use a paintbrush to paint the edges of the wall near the floor, ceiling and corners to completely cover the wall with the primer. Let it dry completely.

    • 3

Paint a 3- to 4-inch border on each wall with a paintbrush and the brushed suede paint.

    • 4

Use a paint roller to apply the brushed suede paint to the rest of the walls, in long, straight strokes. Don't worry about creating a suede look yet, just cover the walls with one coat of paint.

    • 5

Apply the second coat of brushed suede paint when the first coat is dry. Use a 4-inch-wide paintbrush and paint small X shapes all over the walls. This X pattern will create a textured look reminiscent of brushed suede.

    • 6

Wait for the paint to dry completely and evaluate your results. If you are unhappy, you can apply another layer of small X shapes to the walls to improve their appearance.
