Unique DIY Ceilings

Create one-of-a-kind ceilings in your home by incorporating different faux finish techniques. Use glaze, plaster or both for unique and creative looks. The final finish will resemble whatever texture is on the ceiling. If you are new to painting and faux finishes, create several practice boards. Consider setting up scaffolding when painting your ceiling. Though you can reach with a ladder, you will be able to work faster when both feet are planted firmly on wood planks. Take frequent breaks and allow a few days for the ceiling to be painted.

Use different paint techniques to add faux finish effects. Stipple on metallic paint. Use a stencil to create a border or allover pattern. Vinyl adhesive designs may create large patterns and designs around a ceiling chandelier. Mix glaze and paint together to stain the ceiling, giving it an aged finish.
