How to Get Rid of an Interior Stucco Wall

If you have a stucco wall inside your home, you may be wondering how you can remove the bumpy finish. Removing stucco is a time-consuming process that may feel a little like demolition. Exert patience and ask a friend or two to help you scrape the stucco from the wall.

  • Goggles
  • Long clothing
  • Spray bottle
  • Paint scrapers or drywall knives

      Fill a spray bottle with water.

      Douse a section of stuccoed wall with water by spraying water directly on the wall.

      Wait about 5 minutes to let the water soak into the stucco.

      Douse the wall a second time with water.

      Place the paint scraper or drywall knife at an angle below the stucco. Press the scraper or knife upward, gently lifting the stucco and scraping it away. Continue this process until the stucco is off the entire wall.
