How to Make a Sloped Ceiling Into a Canopy

If you have an area in your home with a sloped ceiling, creating a canopy effect can add an elegant and romantic touch. Because of the angle of the ceiling, using a plain four-corner canopy isn't recommended, as the fabric would simply fall all in one area and appear bunched. A hoop canopy is able to hang anywhere in your home with balance, so the fabric will fall evenly around the sloped ceiling area. Hoop canopies can be found in home stores and online.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up a ladder directly below the center of the sloped ceiling.

    • 2

Press the tip of a screw-in wall hook into the center of the sloped ceiling and twist it clockwise until the hook is firmly anchored. Install the wall hook so that it is pointing straight down.

    • 3

Hang a hoop canopy on the wall hook to transform the entire sloped ceiling area into a billowing canopy. If the hoop structure is too large to hang freely without bumping into the slanted ceiling, tie a 24-inch length of ribbon into a loop and hang it from the hook, then hang the hoop canopy from the ribbon.
