How to Mix the Valves in a Shower

If you have a shabby chic home, then you may wish to adorn your shower with a mixture of mismatched valve handles. This is an easy design aesthetic to achieve as long as you know the dimensions of your current faucet handles. To ensure you purchase the correct size, take one of the old valve handles with you to the hardware store.

     Unscrew the current shower faucet handle by turning it counterclockwise.

     Turn the valve handle over and measure the opening with a tape measure. This is the size that fits your particular shower faucet.

     Take the measurement and the old valve knob to the hardware store. Select two different knobs that fit your current shower dimensions. Screw the new knob valves into the shower faucet.
