How to Make Cafe Curtain Rod Brackets

The brackets that hold up cafe curtains on their rods are actually grommets. Grommets are metal circles installed onto the fabric that act as a support system by which rings can be installed without tearing the fabric. With cafe curtains, the grommets are typically very small and as inconspicuous as possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the curtain and divide the inches by four. This is the number of grommets you’ll need for your cafe curtain. You’ll be spacing them 4 inches apart.

    • 2

Position and trace the inner circle of the grommet onto the fabric with a pencil.

    • 3

Cut out the traced circle, being careful not to cut outside of the circle.

    • 4

Position the two sides of the grommet, one on each side of the fabric. Make sure that the pieces are aligned.

    • 5

Place the grommet and fabric into your grommet press and firmly press down to lock the grommet in place.

    • 6

Repeat with all the grommets in the line.

    • 7

Open the cafe curtain rings and place one ring into each grommet.

    • 8

String the rings onto the cafe curtain rod.
