Paint the round entryway with a color that enables the eye to flow visually to any rooms a visitor may see from the area. For instance, if the living room next to the entryway is a pale blue, use the same color or a lighter, silvery blue-gray shade on the entryway walls.
Position a round table in the center of the entryway. This prevents the area from looking bare.
Set a tall, interesting sculpture in the center of the table. Another option is a vase with silk or fresh flowers. Use flowers that accentuate the colors in the room.
Arrange attractive decor on the table, such as picture frames filled with photos of family members, a couple of candle holders or leather-bound books. Anything that depicts the style of your home works well.
Set a floor mat or an attractive area rug in front of the doorway. Select one that coordinates well with the room colors and style. Mats that are straight on one side and half-round on the other are a wise way to accentuate the shape of the room.
Hang tall and narrow pictures that hang vertically around the wall space. Choose scenes that work well with rooms you can see from the round entryway and the theme of the foyer itself. For instance, if your home is decorated in a Victorian style, a grouping of Victorian cottages, English gardens or other old-fashioned pictures enhances the style. Use an odd number of pictures for the best look. Space them evenly around the round entryway.
Place a comfortable chair or a narrow, short bench along the wall closest to the doorway. This allows family members to sit down to remove shoes to store them in the closet. If seating is not necessary, place a potted plant on either side of the doorway. This adds color and interest to the doorway without detracting from the rest of the decor.
