Instructions

Add a shabby chic effect to your kitchen or sun porch by screwing the old roofing directly into the existing sheetrock ceiling. Leave the metal in its original, weathered condition or paint it in vibrant colors of blue, marigold or burnt orange. You can even stripe the metal by painting just the indentations.

Paint your walls in a color that complements your decor. Measure the distance between your floor and ceiling and cut the metal roofing material into 3 foot wide strips of the same length. Hang the pieces vertically on the wall at 3 foot intervals. This technique is perfect for a teenager's room or den.

Paint the metal roofing in varying hues of the same color. Start with your darkest color and change the hue every 18 inches until you end with a color several shades lighter than with what you started. Cover an accent wall in the material that boasts a fading color effect.

Paint over-sized renderings of the sun, moon and stars on the metal roofing. Frame the pieces with old wood timbers. Hang as a grouping on a single wall or share your artwork in different rooms of your home. Change the paintings to fit a child's room with pictures of favorite storybook characters.

Drill holes into the ends of the metal sections. Hang the roofing on either end of a porch that lacks privacy. Screw eye-hooks into both the ceiling above and the porch floor below. Use small-link chains to hold the floating privacy wall in place. Consider adding hot glue around the edges to prevent nicks and scrapes.

Incorporate the metal into an integral part of your homemade headboard. Hang the material horizontally from the base of your bed to the ceiling. Screw a couple of weathered window frames in different sizes to the roofing. Hang dried flowers and sentimental keepsakes from the windows and metal with raffia ribbon and twine.
