How to Decorate a Laminated Tabletop

When a tabletop has a surface that needs protecting, some people cover it with a peel-off laminating paper. Laminating paper comes in a variety of colors and patterns or can be clear, which shows off the table beneath. Decorating the laminated tabletop lets you experiment with the look without altering the table itself, as it can be removed by peeling it away.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a decoupage design on top of the laminate paper. Cut out different paper pictures, and arrange them on the laminated tabletop to find the best layout. Glue each paper piece to the table. Seal it in with a coating of decoupage glue for protection.

    • 2

Paint directly onto the laminated tabletop. Use craft paints to decorate it with a border around the edge or fill the entire space with a picture or design.

    • 3

Use the laminating paper itself as a decoration. Select a cheerful pattern to liven up the room where the table sits. Line half the tabletop with one color and half with the other. Change out the style of the laminating paper every so often for variety.

Draw intricate designs onto the laminated tabletop using permanent markers, which come in a range of color options. Let the marker drawing dry before placing anything on the table to avoid smudging.

Cut shapes out of laminating paper that’s a different color than the base tabletop. Peel away the backing and arrange on the tabletop for a design.
