How to Make Paper Flowers With Floral Tape, Crepe and Cardstock

Crepe paper gives faux flower crafters a stretchy paper with a realistic floral appearance. When purchasing your supplies for this project, it is imperative that you go for quality instead of price. Avoid rolls of crepe paper, cheap paper glue and nonpaper floral wire, as all of these will make your project more difficult and less realistic. Also consider cutting extra petals and leaves in case you accidentally tear the originals while forming the flower.

Instructions

    • 1

Trace the flower pattern piece onto cardboard, and cut out the cardboard.

    • 2

Place the pattern pieces over six layers of crepe paper and cut out your petals. Any more than six layers and the paper may slide under the scissors.

    • 3

Position your petals holding the petal tips with one hand while placing them with the other. Add a drop of glue for each layer of petals.

    • 4

Wrap the ends of the tips with floral wire. Cut your desired stem length with the floral wire, doubling the length.

    • 5

Feed the wire through the petal tips and string it so that you have a double layered stem.

    • 6

Start wrapping the flower with floral tape, covering the entire petal tabs and working down. Add in leaves where desired and run the tape over the leaf tabs completely.
