Hanging a Flag on a Curtain Rod Over the Bed

Whether a flag displays pride for country, expresses love of a sports team or serves as a colorful work of art, these lightweight objects are commonly hung outside. However, a flag creates a distinctive adornment when used indoors. Hanging the flag on a curtain rod provides an ideal way to display it indoors. Place it over your bed as an alternative to a heavy framed picture.

Instructions

    • 1

Run a stud finder over the wall in the area above your bed. Locate and mark two wall studs that are as far apart as your flag is wide, plus at least 4 inches. These studs will be the mounting points for the curtain rod.

    • 2

Hold the flag above your bed to determine the height at which you’ll hang it. Make a pencil mark on the wall for reference along the top of the flag.

    • 3

Measure from the floor to the pencil mark on the wall and remember the number for reference.

    • 4

Place an “X” at this height along the two studs.

    • 5

Install two curtain rod mounting brackets, attaching them to the wall studs. Create starter holes for the screws using a drill, if necessary.

    • 6

Remove one finial (the decorative curtain rod end piece) from the rod and thread the flag onto the rod. Replace the finial and place the curtain rod onto the two mounting brackets.
