How to Decoupage Tumbled Tiles

Tumbled tiles are made from stone and give Old World rustic appeal when installed on the walls or on the floor. The tumbled tiles don’t contain any embellishments, but you can add your own through the craft of decoupage. Select a few paper objects to adorn each tile. You can do this craft on loose tumbled tiles or ones already installed.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surface of the tumbled tile and remove any residue. Dry thoroughly.

    • 2

Cut your paper objects for decoupage. Find them in magazines or draw the pictures by hand. Use a craft knife to cut around the outline of each object.

    • 3

Use a spray bottle with a mist setting to moisten each paper object that you’ll decoupage to the tile.

    • 4

Turn over the paper object and apply a layer of decoupage glue with a foam brush. Stick the paper in place on the tumbled tile and smooth it out to ensure it’s as flat as possible. Let the glue set and dry for at least 12 hours.

Apply a layer of clear acrylic sealant on top of the entire tumbled stone tile, covering the paper objects. Let it dry overnight before handling the tile.
