Sew throw pillows from an Army blanket, and place the pillows on the bed or on any seating areas in the room. Draw the shape of the pillow onto the blanket with fabric chalk. Then, cut out two identical shapes, sew them together and fill them with stuffing. Repeat the process for additional pillows.
Hang an army blanket directly on the wall to provide visual interest over a large area. Alternatively, mount a curtain rod onto the wall, and drape the blanket over it.
Fold an army blanket into quarters, and drape it over a headboard, footboard or chair where it serves a decorative purpose but is easily accessible for a practical need, as well.
Cut different shapes from the army blanket, such as the outline of a military helmet, soldier or tank. Attach the fabric cutouts strategically around the wall, or frame the shapes for a more sophisticated decorative appeal.
Create a bed canopy to hang over the boy’s bed by using several army blankets. Open an embroidery hoop, and fold the army blankets over the edge of the outer circle. Insert the inner circle, and tighten it to secure the blankets. Tie four pieces of wire at even intervals around the hoop, and mount the canopy from a hook on the ceiling.
