How to Decorate a Baby's Room With Flash Cards

Flashcards with words, letters or numbers won’t be something a baby will use for several years. However, these cards can provide an inexpensive decorating option for your newborn’s nursery. Using flash cards as decorative objects fits well with an alphabet motif in the baby’s room. Find flashcards that contain pictures as well, to add colorful illustrations to the environment. Use one or several decorating methods in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Create flashcard garlands and hang them from the walls or ceiling of the baby’s room. Use a straight stitch on a sewing machine along the top of the flash cards to create a string of the objects. Hang a thin rope along the wall and attach each flash card with a mini-clothespin as an alternative.

Arrange flashcards in a pattern on a colored piece of paper; attach them with glue. Place the matted flashcards in a frame and hang it on the wall for a sophisticated yet child-friendly decoration.

    • 3

Collect alphabet flashcards that spell out the baby’s first name. Mount each one in an individual picture frame and hang the frames over the crib.

    • 4

Decoupage various flash cards onto hard furniture pieces, such as the crib’s headboard or footboard, the changing table or a wardrobe. Glue the flashcards to the furniture and let dry. Seal the flashcards to the furniture by painting over them with several layers of clear varnish.

Insert several flashcards into freestanding picture clips, which stand upright. Place the picture clips on a shelf for display.
