How to Make a Cardboard Template for a Corner Shelf

Corner shelves allow you to use a space for storage that’s often left empty. Whether it’s just one shelf in the corner or several on top of one another, you can use the space for decorative display or for placing more practical items. If you’re crafting your own corner shelves, having a cardboard template allows you to duplicate the exact size and shape by tracing it over and over onto the wood.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length from the corner of the wall to the point at which you want the shelf to extend.

    • 2

Draw a circle onto a piece of cardboard that has a diameter that’s double the wall measurement. Use a compass for assistance.

    • 3

Draw four equal segments onto the cardboard circle, using a ruler to form a straight line.

    • 4

Cut out the circle with a utility knife. Cut along the two lines that divide the circle into the four segments. This creates four equal pieces, any of which you can use for the shelf template.
