How to Glue Fabric on a Leather Sofa

A leather sofa adds a rich hue and texture to any living space. While appearing sophisticated on its own, you may want to add some form of fabric embellishment to its surface. Whether it’s pasting a logo of your favorite sports team to a leather sofa in a home theater or creating a floral pattern around the back, attaching the fabric with glue is a simple process.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the surface of the leather sofa with a lint-free cloth to remove any dust from the surface that could get in the way of the glue.

    • 2

Cut the fabric to the proper size and shape for your project and do a test layout on the leather sofa’s surface. Play around with the positioning until you find one that works best for you.

    • 3

Turn the fabric over so the side on display faces down. Cover it with a layer of decoupage glue using a foam brush. Pick up the fabric and press it into place on the sofa. Smooth away any wrinkles with your fingers. Let the glue set for one hour.

Apply another layer of decoupage glue to the fabric, extending slightly to the leather around it. This seals the fabric into place and protects it. Cover it with additional layers for a thicker sealant and added protection.
