How to Make a Ribbon & Bead Curtain

Although more for ambiance and decoration, ribbon and bead curtains can cover a window with style and pizzazz. When you wish to add a touch of whimsy to your room, choose ribbons and beads in funky colors and bold patterns. After stringing them in a striking design, they can hang straight down to cover the window or you can pull them back like other curtains.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the tension rod or curtain rod over the window.

    • 2

Measure the distance from the rod to the point you want the ribbon and bead curtain to end. Add about 8 inches for tying knots.

    • 3

Cut lengths of ribbon in the length you determined. You will need enough ribbons to tie side-by-side so they touch along the tension rod or curtain rod.

    • 4

Tie the lengths of ribbon to the rod so they sit snugly beside each other and hang straight down from the rod.

    • 5

String the beads onto the ribbons to fill each length of ribbon with beads. Make each ribbon look different with a different arrangement of beads or make them all look uniform.

    • 6

Tie the ends of the ribbons in a double overhand knot to hold the beads securely on the ribbons.
