A wine cork wreath is a creative addition to your kitchen wall. The base of the wreath can be made of wire, plywood or wicker. Wire or wicker will make it easy to hang on the wall. Plywood may be a studier choice. Depending on the look you are going for, you can lay the corks flat on their sides or stand them up straight. Place plastic grapes and leaves along one side for added style.
A picture frame you no longer have use for is perfect for a wine cork corkboard. You can also find frames at a thrift store or flea market. Simply remove the glass and glue the corks to the backing, filling in the frame. You can cut the corks in half lengthwise, or leave the corks intact if you have a thick frame. If there is an awkward space to fill, you can insert plastic grapes for edging.
Old frames can be converted into a new piece by gluing wine corks around the edge of the frame. This works best if the frame is just wide enough for a wine cork and flat on the surface. A skinny frame can work as well if you don’t mind the overlap. Cut the corks in half lengthwise and glue to the flat side to the frame for a snug fit.
A wine cork serving tray can be made with a frame much like that of the wine cork corkboard. If you use a frame, glue the backing board to the back of the frame to strengthen it. You can also use an old shelf. Glue the corks to the shelf and cover the edge of the shelf with more wine corks or your choice of fabric such as a plain burgundy or wine print. You also can use the serving tray as a hot plate.
