How to Add Velcro to a Bed Skirt

A bed skirt is a wonderful piece of bedding to hide your box-spring or the items underneath the bed. If you have ever changed the bedding on a bed with a bed skirt on, you know that it can and does move around while you are tucking the sheets or comforters in. This can make bed making a frustrating experience. To make the process easier, you can Velcro your bed skirt to your box spring to help it stay in place while making or using the bed.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove your mattress and bed skirt from your bed.

    • 2

Remove the hook side of the Velcro from the package. Measure the length and width of your box spring. Cut two pieces of the hook side of the Velcro to the length measurement and two strips of the hook side to the width measurement.

    • 3

Plug in your glue gun and allow it to get hot.

    • 4

Run a bead of hot glue along one side of your box spring. Smooth one of the long pieces of the hook side along the edge of one side of your box spring. Repeat the same step for the other side of the box spring. Attach the remaining hook side of the Velcro to the top and bottom edge of your box spring.

Smooth your bed skirt right side face down, into the floor. Measure each of the sides of the bed skirt as well as the top and bottom edge of the bed skirt. Cut pieces of the loop side of the Velcro to these measurements.

    • 6

Run a bead of fabric glue along the left side of the bed skirt where the colored fabric of the bed skirt meets the typically white thin fabric that goes over the top of the box spring. Smooth one of the long pieces of the loop side of the Velcro onto the fabric glue. Repeat the process for the right side of the bed skirt as well as the top and bottom of the bed skirt. Allow the glue to dry completely.

Place the bed skirt back onto the box spring, matching up the Velcro pieces. Press the Velcro into place. Replace your mattress.
