Directions for Making Wire Cross Wall Hangings

If you love the look of crosses -- or you are a person of Christian faith and are admiring of crosses for this reason -- then make one for your wall using a few simple materials, such as twigs, hot glue and jewelry wire in different colors. Jewelry wire is an ideal wire to use in wrapping a cross because it is lightweight and pliable.

Things You'll Need

  • Hot glue sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Wax paper
  • Two twigs (one 2 inches shorter than the other)
  • Jewelry wire
  • Jewelry wire cutters

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a hot glue stick in the back of a hot glue gun. Plug the gun into a power outlet and allow the glue to heat up for about two minutes.

    • 2

Line your work space with wax paper.

    • 3

Unroll the jewelry wire about 6 inches at a time. Wrap the wire at the bottom of the longer twig so that it is attached and then wind the wire around the twig base. Once you have wrapped the entire length of the longer twig, cut off the wire with a pair of wire cutters. Wrap the wire around the shorter twig using the same technique as you used to wrap the longer twig.

Squeeze hot glue onto the vertical twig and press the horizontal twig into the glue. Allow the glue to dry. The horizontal twig should be placed at about the first third of the vertical twig to form the cross shape.
