Instructions

    • 1

Sand the top of the tree stump with the belt sander to smooth out any rough edges. Leave natural chainsaw marks visible. Smoothing out the wood makes the table as safe as it is functional.

    • 2

Stain the stump whatever color of stain you desire by following the staining instructions on your wood stain container. Alternatively, choose to leave the tree stump its natural color without staining or painting it. Staining or painting the stump gives it a sheen and a finished look.

Top off the tree stump with a round or oval-shaped glass pane or a sanded wooden slab, if you want your table to be larger than the top of the tree stump itself. The top of the tree stump can serve as the table, or the surface area can be enlarged by using the tree stump as the pedestal for the glass or the wooden slab. Purchase a glass table top pane at a furniture store near you.

Place a lamp or a candle on the tree stump table to offer lighting. A bowl of potpourri with natural ingredients including, pine cones, leaves, acorns and twigs enhance the rustic decor of the tree stump table. When adding decorative items to the top of the stump, think of items that contrast with the bark, such as fur or fun, shiny items.
