How to Decorate a Ceiling With Artificial Vines

Whether you want to decorate for a jungle-themed party or simply wish to add an earthy vibe to your home, you can hang artificial vines from the ceiling in a decorative manner without too much trouble and a few supplies. Fishing line is the secret to hanging vines from the ceiling, as it is durable, lightweight and barely visible. Using an organized technique enables you to hang the vines exactly how you wish.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the artificial vines out on the floor, directly under the ceiling and positioned how you'd like them to be on the ceiling. You can choose to lay them out in a straight line, curl them around in a design or create a border around the perimeter of the room.

    • 2

Use a stepladder to create marks on the ceiling with a pencil every 3 feet. Be careful not to move the vines as you move the stepladder around. Count the amount of marks you make as you go.

    • 3

Cut enough lengths of clear fishing line to match the amount of marks you made on the ceiling. You can choose to make the fishing line as long or short as you wish. You can also make all the lengths of fishing line the same or various lengths for a more authentic effect.

    • 4

Knot the fishing line tightly around each vine, and knot the open end of the fishing line over itself to create a small loop.

    • 5

Install a screw-in wall hook over each pencil mark on the ceiling. These hooks are inexpensive and can be found in hardware stores. Simply push the tip through the surface of the wall, and screw it in a clockwise motion to secure the hook to the ceiling.

    • 6

Lift each vine up by the piece of fishing line, and hook the small loop at the end of the fishing line over the wall hook.

    • 7

Repeat the process for each vine you have.
