Instructions

    • 1

Remove any hardware from the furniture, using the screwdriver. Pull out removable shelves and remove drawers.

    • 2

Examine the wood surfaces thoroughly for any gouges or scratches. Fill these areas with wood filler, applying it with the putty knife to make it flush with the surrounding wood surface. Allow the wood filler to dry completely.

    • 3

Sand the surfaces of the furniture lightly and evenly with sandpaper. Vacuum the sanded surfaces to remove all sawdust from the furniture. Wipe down all surfaces with the tack cloth to remove any remaining sawdust.

    • 4

Place the furniture onto the dropcloth.

    • 5

Load the paintbrush with acrylic primer and apply it along the grain of the wood in a thin layer. Smooth the paint with the brush as you apply it. Continue to paint until you cover the entire surface evenly. Allow the primer to dry.

    • 6

Sand the primer coat lightly with the sandpaper. Vacuum the sanded surfaces again and wipe down with the tack cloth.

    • 7

Load the paintbrush with the latex enamel paint and apply it carefully and evenly over the primer. Use the unloaded paintbrush to remove excess paint from the wood, when necessary. Continue painting until the furniture is completely coated. Allow the paint to dry.

    • 8

Apply a second coat of paint, if desired, and allow it to dry for 24 to 48 hours before reassembling and using the furniture.
