If vinyl wallpaper is covering your home, then you may want to remove it to paint the walls or to apply a more updated wallpaper. The good news is that vinyl wallpaper is fairly easy to remove if you have some time. The bad news is that you will need a good deal of time. Be patient and mindful of what you are doing -- especially when you start to use chemicals in this process.
- Wide putty knife
- Spray wallpaper remover
- Sponge
- Rag

Place a wide putty knife beneath an opening in the vinyl wallpaper. Scrape across, down or up with the putty knife. Once you have a good chunk lifted from the wall, use your hands to tear the wallpaper off in long and wide sheets.

Spray the wall with a chemical wallpaper remover once you have removed the paper.

Scrape away the wallpaper adhesive with a putty knife.

Wipe down the walls with a sponge or rag doused with the wallpaper remover solution.
