Instructions

    • 1

Place the tape measure at the widest spot along the left edge of the chair back, positioning the end of the tape measure precisely at the halfway point of the thickness of the chair back. Extend the tape measure straight across to the right edge of the chair back, noting the point on the tape measure that is half of the thickness of the chair back. Add 1.5 inches for seam allowance and fitting ease, and write down the measurement.

Measure the height of the round chair back using the same method. Position the tape measure at the widest point along the top edge of the chair, precisely at the halfway point of the thickness of the chair back. Extend the tape measure straight down to the bottom edge of the chair back, noting the point on the tape measure that is half of the thickness of the chair back. Add 1.5 inches for seam allowance and fitting ease, and write down the measurement.

Draw a template onto the newsprint paper using the measurements you wrote down. Measure the width and height diameters with the tape measure and the pencil. Connect the marks with rounded lines to draw the circle template.

Cut out the template with the scissors. Use the template to cut out a front and back fabric piece to recover the back of the chair.
