How to Make a Tulle Bow for a Folding Chair

Tulle is a lightweight fabric netting in a loose weave that comes in a variety of colors and widths. The stiff nature of the netting facilitates its shape-holding ability. Tulle can be used to create bouffant bows on table corners, door frames, garden arbors, gates and chairs— including folding chairs. A proper tulle width is key to creating attractive folding chair bows.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut the tulle so it's 3 1/2 yards long.

    • 2

Wrap a 3 1/2-yard length of tulle at the base of the folding chair back from the front -- or seat side -- to the back.

    • 3

Tie the tulle into a tight knot at the center-back of the folding chair. The tulle width will scrunch down to about 10 inches, creating a shirred effect.

    • 4

Tie the tulle ends into a bow. Pull the ends down to minimize the bow loop, or pull on the loops to enlarge the bow and shorten the ends.

    • 5

Fluff the bow loops out, and straighten the ends.
