DIY Laundry Stand

If you prefer to air-dry your clothes instead of drying them in an electric or gas dryer, using a laundry stand is one option. Dress up one of your old ladders, or one that you can purchase from a yard sale or flea market, with latex paint and hang it from the ceiling in your laundry room.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread a drop cloth across a flat, outdoor space.

    • 2

Paint the ladder with a latex paint of your choice. Allow the paint to dry.

    • 3

Screw in 4 metal hooks, on the 4 ends of the ladder, all on the same side of the ladder.

    • 4

Use a stud finder to find the studs in the ceiling. Drill 4 ceiling hooks into the studs to correspond with the 4 points on the ladder. Make sure you measure the width and length of the ladder so you can make sure you place the ladder at the right point on the ceiling.

Place one end of the chains onto the hooks on the ladder, and then connect the other end of the chains to the hooks on the ceiling -- one chain per set of hooks.
