How to Hide Recessed Under Cabinet Lighting Wires

Under-cabinet lighting can add a soft, ambient glow to a kitchen or create a bright workspace for preparing food, depending on the type of lighting you choose. You can hide recessed lights from view under the cabinets, but many have wires that plug into the wall below. If your under-cabinet lighting has wires that you wish to hide, there are several methods you can use.

Instructions

    • 1

Conceal the cabinet lighting wires with a cable raceway, which is a plastic strip that sticks to the wall or surface on which the wire runs. Cut the strip to the proper size, and thread the wire through. Peel away the adhesive backing, and press the cable raceway under the cabinet or against the wall. Paint it to match the tile or wall behind it.

Pin up the wires under the cabinet so they don’t dangle down in full view by using wire tacks. Select wire tacks that are large enough to accommodate your cabinet lighting wires. Hold the wire up to the bottom of the cabinet, position the tack over the wire, and push it into the wood.

Position decorative accessories on the countertop so they conceal any cabinet wires that run down the walls. Use items such as fake potted plants, ceramic vases or food storage canisters.
