How to Furnish a Room in a Style Like a Bowling Alley

Paint the walls in a bold color, such as a rustic red or royal blue, for a stimulating ambiance. If you feel too much of one color is tiring, paint the walls in a neutral shade and add the bold color to one accent wall. This creates a center focal point where you can display bowling themed wall art.

Display a bowling shirt or jacket in a large shadow box to hang on the accent wall. Another option is to display bowling towels, vintage bowling pins, gloves or scorecards in an attractive design in the shadow box.

Lay down a rectangular area rug on the main walkway in the room. Purchase one that has a tan or brown color with flecks or stripes in it to resemble a lane in a bowling alley.

Paint a foam ball with black acrylic paint and a craft paintbrush so that it looks like a bowling ball. Allow the ball to dry completely and then paint white circle shapes on the ball to represent the holes where your fingers go. Set decor around the room that is art deco, eclectic or in a retro style, such as an old jukebox. This type of decor is widely used in bowling alleys. Display bowling trophies or awards you may have in a curio cabinet or a bookcase to add to the ambiance of the room.

Collect useful items in a bowling theme, such as beverage coasters shaped like scorecards, drinking glasses in the shape of bowling pins or a coffee mug that resembles a bowling ball.

Position small dining or occasional tables with chairs in two or three sections in the room if it is spacious. This creates separate conversation areas just like in a bowling alley.
