How to Recover a Mid-Century Sofa With a Slipcover

Your mid-century sofa may currently look old and dull, but you have options other than buying an entirely new piece of furniture. For example, you can use a slipcover over the sofa to refresh the piece without breaking the bank. One of the keys to using a slipcover is to make sure that you purchase the right size. It also is in your best interest to purchase a slipcover that is stain resistant since spills do happen.

Clean and vacuum the sofa. Remove all of the throw pillows from the sofa.

Place the slipcover over the sofa starting from the back and top of the piece down to the front and bottom. Tuck the slipcover into the crevasses, and stretch it out to fit over the arm rests. Use the ties if the slipcover has them.

Pin the slipcover to the back of the sofa where they cannot be seen. Place the safety pins 4 inches apart around the back of the sofa. This is the best way to secure the slipcover to the sofa.

Pin the slipcover to the bottom of the sofa. Again, space the safety pins about 4 inches apart.
