How to Install Graphics on a Concrete Floor

Instructions

    • 1

Select a dry day to lay your graphic if it's being installed outside. Applying it to moist concrete will weaken the adhesive on the back of its vinyl and shorten its life considerably.

    • 2

Sweep the area of concrete floor where you intend to lay your graphic.

    • 3

Wash your floor with warm water and detergent. If the concrete you're working with is particularly dirty, use a pressure hose to clean it. Allow your floor to dry completely before proceeding.

    • 4

Select a good position for your graphic. Choose a flat section of concrete with no cracks, and make sure the edges of your graphic don't cover any tiling or grouting nearby.

    • 5

Remove the protective film from the adhesive on the underside of your graphic and carefully lay it into position on your concrete floor. Don't smooth it over with your hands. Doing so may trap air between your graphic's adhesive and your concrete floor.

    • 6

Place your squeegee in the center of your graphic and use long strokes to smooth the image out.

    • 7

Apply an overlaminate floor protector to your graphic with a brush. Place cones around your vinyl while it drys if it's been laid in an area that experiences heavy footfall.
