Clean the wall using a mild detergent and water solution or a degreaser. Dry the surface.
Measure the wall area to be covered. Determine the number of panels to be used.
Cut the backsplash panels with tin snips, according to your measurements.
Mark openings for switch plates and outlet covers before installing the panels. Trace the outline for the covers directly on the protective film of the panels with a marker.
Score the backsplash along the traced outline using a utility knife. Go over the score marks several times, applying increased pressure.
Cut a small hole in the center of the outlined area. Make diagonal cuts from the center to the corners using tin snips.
Fold the cut pieces along the score marks to remove the center section.
Lay out the panels to determine that you have an accurate fit. Arrange panels so that the long flat edge is on the top and the short flat edge is on the right side to allow for overlapping of the panels.
Remove protective film from each panel before affixing it to the wall. When applying multiple panels, they will overlap slightly, making it difficult to remove the film once they are on the wall.
Apply adhesive to the back of the first panel. Use a ¼-inch bead of adhesive, creating a zigzag pattern.
Press the first panel in place, beginning at the bottom left side of the wall. Rub across the panel with a soft cloth, squeezing out any air bubbles. Wipe excess adhesive from the panel with a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet.
Repeat the process with additional panels, proceeding from left to right and bottom to top, leaving a 1/16-inch expansion gap between panels.
Finish edges by attaching an edge trim piece. Finish corners using a corner trim piece.
